Religion

The only reasonable explanation for religion is that an advanced civilization, either terrestrial or extraterrestrial, tried to explain some serious science (quantum mechanics, perhaps) to an ancient tribe, but they misunderstood a couple of things about electron orbits and came up with the angelic choirs instead.
